Know what the reading features do.

This policy describes First Shift Review’s built-in publication features. Responsible publisher: Jon Reigan. Privacy questions can be sent to Reigan@gmail.com. The site does not need you to enter employment, health or patient information to read its guides or use its comparison tools.

Reading and comparison

The stage comparison and question router use temporary page selections. These built-in tools do not submit your selection as a case, ask for free-text personal details or save the selection in browser storage. Article links and search provide ways to navigate the publication. A search term is part of the page request and may be visible in browser history or infrastructure logs; do not put sensitive information into search.

Optional reading-position memory

If you enable it in Cookie Settings, a local browser feature can remember article paths, reading positions and timestamps on this device. It is separate from the stage tool. The built-in reading feature does not send that stored reading record to the publisher. Rejecting or disabling the feature stops future saves and removes its browser record where access is available.

Your privacy choice

A first-party preference cookie remembers the version, choice and timestamp for up to 180 days. Invalid or expired preferences do not authorize optional storage. The Cookie Policy and Settings lists exact names, duration and removal behavior. Use the persistent Cookie Settings control or footer link to change your choice.

Messages you choose to send

The contact link opens your email application. If you send a message, your email provider and the publisher’s email service process the message and its addressing information. Send only what is needed for an editorial question. The publisher’s actual mail-service arrangements, message-retention practices and handling of a particular request must be explained by the publisher; this publication does not invent a retention period.

External sources and videos

Following an external link sends a request to another website and brings its practices into play. The built-in video section contains outbound links, not embedded players or remotely loaded provider thumbnails. No optional video player is loaded by this feature before you choose to leave the site.

Website delivery and other software

Your browser necessarily requests pages and assets from the service delivering the website. Hosting, security, CDN and server-log practices depend on the active deployment. WordPress sign-in and any software added later can have separate storage or request behavior. This policy does not claim that the whole hosting environment collects nothing or that the built-in settings control unrelated integrations.

The built-in technology descriptions were checked against the supplied reader code on September 30, 2026. A production host and later-added integrations require their own verification and updated disclosures. This is a scoped explanation, not a claim of universal privacy-law compliance.

Questions and changes

Contact the publisher about its handling of a message or an applicable privacy request. When technology or processing changes, the publisher should update this policy and the storage inventory to reflect the actual service. Do not send patient or credential information to demonstrate a concern.
